Weimar Germany
A nice straightforward drive today and a lovely suprise when we entered the hotel it was fantastic. The cheapest so far but with a swimming pool and sauna. The perfect relaxation after quite a lot of driving. The hotel was just off the motorway so easy to find in a nice rural setting and it also had bikes to hire for free so me and Sam went for a spin this evening but didn39t quite make it

This was one of the things I was really excited to do because visiting a concentration camp is on my bucket list I think it39s

Today s the day. I have KSSN 96 blaring in the background to make sure that I get up and about. My suite case is still half way empty I tend to be a last minute person. That just makes things more exciting more of a rush a am I going to make it on time attitude. However when it comes to catching my flight to head to Europe I don t really plan on having that rush of am I going to make it or
July 7 2010 Buchenwald and Gieen then on to Kln
After an easy nondriving day in Leipzig we girded our loins for a tougher day driving across northern Germany. Our route would take us to Buchenwald near Weimar then to Gieen then on to Kln. All told the journey would be some 519 km 322 miles. This area of Germany is mostly rolling hills forested in areas and driving on the modern highways is very easy. Most of the driving was on fr
Weimar and Buchenwald
Weimar is a cultural centre near to Leipzig where Goethe and Schiller resided and where the Weimar Republic had its consitution drafted. We spent a few hours walkin around the streets of Weimar checking out the city centre and historical sites. After that we went to Buchenwald a horribly fascinating place where an estimated 56000 or so people were killed and 240000 incacerated. It was a concen
Buchenwald and Weimar
Weimar just an hour by train from Leipzig is a wonderful historical little town. It seems like every famous German person in the history of Germany has lived in Weimar. Okay so maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but Schiller Goethe Bach Strauss Nietzsche Martin Luther Wagner and Marlene Dietrich all lived here at some point. I was spending the night with Kathrin and Hendrik who are

Cold Relaxing Saturday
This morning we had breakfast together as usual. I had my first soft boiled egg and I really liked it. It reminded me of taking a fried egg sunny side up. When I looked out the window it was 10 degrees and raining BRRR But I'm sure we'll be getting some warm weather coming our way soon. After breakfast everybody cleaned up a little. After Ellie and I finished our room and the bathroom
My Second Youth Meeting
Last night I went to my second Youth meeting in Germany. Ellie and I started chilli con carne during Teenies and we went out to play volleyball afterward. We played one game with random teams and another game girls v. guys. Before we finished the second game we went in to check on the chilli. There were 14 people there in total which is more than we expected. We had enough food though so
