Helen and Hannah's Guide to an impoverished trip up the East Coast
This is my first blog from the land down under. Due to the fact that activities have tended to involve sunbathing and goon consuming it has been hard to find anything worth writing about I have travelled from Sydney to Brisbane so far stopping off along the way for a night at a surf camp six nights in Byron Bay and two nights in Surfers Paradise. The surf lesson at the camp was great fun. I mana
From Heat Wave to Humidity
I spent my last day in Perth on Rottnest with my wonderful sister and all the things I love best in the world. I swam and drank and laughed and was completely and utterly happy. It was a glorious day and the perfect way to finish up my summer. Australia day night was spent in our neighbours garage at the annual street party. The rain thunder and lightning kept us all entertained and there was

No improvement with the weather and even some light rain about this morning but at least the wind has subsided to a gentle breeze. We decided to ride along the scenic trail into Albany again and take a look at the Boat Shed Markets along the foreshore. About half way into town we came across a couple who were assisting an elderly male cyclist who was experiencing chest pain. By the time we arrived

4 February 2012
A wet and wild start to the day after the blowy night continued into the early morning with a few showers and the sun all but hidden behind some ominous looking black clouds. We thought we would press ahead with our plans despite the unseasonly weather and ride along a coastal bike trail into the heart of Albany. Pleasure and pain involved with this route as it was uphill and downdale however th

Weatherwise the southwest of WA has been very cool low 20s most of the time but we39re not complaining. Sleeping is much easier and this morning we didn39t stir until after 830 and that has been by far the latest we39ve sleptin since late December. We made it to Albany by late morning and set up shop in a caravan park at nearby Emu Point. During the afternoon we decided to go out fo
Adjusting to life down under with Possums and Pots of beer.
HeyIts day 3 for Jo and wow what a trip it has been already My flight was good it all went very smoothly apart from a slight 1 hour 20 minute delay at heathrow due to technical problems with the power of the plane which meant me almost missing my flight in Bangkok and having to run literally from one plane to another. The plane was nice modern and the food and drinks were actually good for air
Surfer's Paradise Its not just for surfers
Hello EveryoneBeing in Australia where most of the inhabitants live within 100 miles of the coast I often feel how I have been deprived as a child. Maybe I could have been a beach bunny or a surfer dude if only I had been exposed at a young age to the wonders of beaches. I have seen so many families frolicking on the beach here on the Queensland coast. Including parents and their little children
